Emma Hayes plays down Chelsea’s chances of winning WSL title

Emma Hayes thinks it’s going to be tough for Chelsea to keep their WSL title.

Right now, Manchester City is ahead by six points, and Chelsea has a lower goal difference. But Chelsea has two games they haven’t played yet.

The first one is on Wednesday against Liverpool, coming right after they got knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona.

Losing in the Champions League means Chelsea’s only chance for a trophy this season is the WSL. They were hoping for four trophies before, but now it’s just this one.

Emma Hayes, Chelsea’s coach, knows they’re not in the best position. She’s aiming for her fifth title in a row before she leaves to coach the United States women’s team.

She says they’ve put the Barcelona loss behind them. They took a day off, talked about their goals, and now they’re focused on the Liverpool game.

When you lose, it’s not good to have a long break afterward. Hayes knows they have a small chance of winning the league, so they need to concentrate on that.

While Chelsea hasn’t played in the WSL recently, City has won two games, scoring nine goals without any reply. But Chelsea might have a chance if City struggles against Arsenal on Sunday.
