Nkunku ready to Eases the Pressure on Palmer as Chelsea continue European march

The Blues are on a fantastic winning streak thanks to Pochettino’s strategy working like a charm.

Chelsea is enjoying this part of the season so much—they’ve found a solid way to play and it’s helping them win big.

They had a rough start against Brighton, just like they did against Nottingham Forest, but thanks to Pochettino’s plan, they’ve got a foundation to work from.

Then it’s up to the really good players to step up, and that’s exactly what Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku did in the 2-1 win over Brighton. Even after Reece James got a red card and Danny Welbeck scored for Brighton, Chelsea held their ground.

Now, Chelsea’s probably going to make it to at least the Conference League and they’re aiming for the Europa League. Their last game of the season is against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Cole Palmer (Again)

There’s a chant that goes, ‘Palmer again: ole, ole.’ It’s simple, but it shows that people expect something awesome from him every game.

Once again, every touch he made at the Amex Stadium was amazing. But his goal was something unexpected from him. He dodged his marker and then scored with a looping header in the 34th minute.

Palmer’s now matched Frank Lampard’s best-ever scoring season for Chelsea with 22 goals. That’s impressive, especially since he’s only 22 and it’s his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Nkunku is Back

Last time it was all about James, but this time it’s about Nkunku.

The French player looked sharp when he came on for Mykhailo Mudryk, who got a concussion. Nkunku scored after a few nice touches and shots, turning in Malo Gusto’s pass.

It’ll be interesting to see how the team’s attack develops. Nkunku was supposed to be the star, but Palmer’s taken the spotlight in his absence.

The New Switching System

Have you ever seen two central midfielders switch positions with their nearest full-back? It’s unusual, but it’s what Pochettino did to fit Gusto into the team. Sometimes Moises Caicedo played at right-back, with Gusto moving to the center. The same happened on the left with Gallagher and Marc Cucurella. This system is why Chelsea’s playing so solidly.

Unfortunately, the story of full-backs had a downside for Chelsea as James was sent off for kicking Joao Pedro and will now miss the first three matches next season due to a four-game ban.
