Chelsea Aiming for a Perfect Send-Off for Emma Hayes with Another WSL Title

Today, Chelsea is looking to give Emma Hayes the perfect farewell by winning yet another Women’s Super League (WSL) title.

Hayes has been with Chelsea for 12 years, leading the team to numerous victories and collecting many trophies. This summer, she will leave to become the head coach of the US women’s national team, making today’s match even more special as it’s her last game in charge.

At one point, it seemed possible for Hayes and Chelsea to win four different trophies this season. But hopes dwindled after a League Cup final loss to Arsenal, an FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United, and a Champions League exit against Barcelona.

After a chaotic 4-3 loss to Liverpool earlier this month, Hayes admitted the WSL title might go to Manchester City, who then had a six-point lead with just two games remaining.

However, the situation has turned around quickly. Chelsea is now back on top, thanks to victories over Bristol City and Tottenham, and a surprising home loss for City against Arsenal. Both teams are tied with 52 points, but Chelsea leads on goal difference.

Chelsea will face FA Cup winners Manchester United today, while Manchester City will play against seventh-placed Aston Villa. Chelsea will win their fourth consecutive WSL title if they match or do better than City’s result. City needs to better Chelsea’s result or overturn a three-goal difference if both teams win.

Here’s how you can watch the action live today.
