Mauricio Pochettino has left Chelsea after an end-of-season review, and the club is already looking for his replacement.

Pochettino and Chelsea’s management couldn’t agree on the future direction of the team, leading to his departure by mutual consent. Under Pochettino, Chelsea improved significantly, finishing sixth in the Premier League after being 11th in April, thanks to five straight wins.

Despite this progress, tensions grew between Pochettino and Chelsea’s co-owners and co-sporting directors. These disagreements ultimately made it impossible for him to stay. However, Pochettino left on good terms with the club’s leaders Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali, and Jose Feliciano.

Pochettino, formerly with Tottenham, is now a hot commodity. Manchester United is reportedly interested in him. Chelsea is considering candidates like Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim and Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna to replace him. Pochettino had a year left on his contract when he left.

Chelsea’s joint sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, thanked Pochettino for his work and welcomed him back anytime. Pochettino expressed his gratitude to Chelsea’s ownership and sporting directors for the opportunity to be part of the club.

Bayern Munich is also looking at Pochettino for their vacant manager position, alongside Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Burnley’s Vincent Kompany.

Pochettino managed to turn Chelsea into one of the best-performing teams in the latter half of the season, losing only once in their last 15 Premier League games despite many injuries and a chaotic start. However, the club’s management still felt he should have secured a higher finish in the league. The next manager will face high expectations.

Earlier this month, Pochettino hinted at his uncertain future, suggesting it wouldn’t be disastrous if he left. This came just before Chelsea’s 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest on May 10, where he acknowledged that either he or the club could decide to part ways.

Chelsea’s new owners are now searching for their sixth coach in nearly two years, following the tenures of Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, and Pochettino. The club is still striving to meet the high expectations of its demanding leadership.
