Chelsea Already Searching for New Manager

Chelsea have announced that Mauricio Pochettino has left his role as manager by mutual agreement.

The Argentine manager departs Stamford Bridge after just one season, even though he recently led the team back into the Premier League’s top six.

A winning streak of five games secured Chelsea’s qualification for European competition, but which competition they’ll play in depends on the upcoming FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United.

If Manchester City wins, Chelsea will compete in the Europa League. If Manchester United wins, Chelsea will be in the Conference League.

Pochettino’s time at Chelsea was challenging until a late-season surge improved their standing. Despite this, he struggled to win over all the fans, with some calling for former manager Jose Mourinho during a 2-2 draw at Brentford in March.

Earlier this month, Pochettino hinted that leaving after one year wouldn’t be disastrous, suggesting he was prepared for this outcome. Co-owner Todd Boehly had praised Pochettino for his work with the young squad, but a post-season review with co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart was always planned.

Why Did Mauricio Pochettino Leave Chelsea After Only One Season?
Pochettino’s departure seems amicable, with no major conflicts reported between him and Chelsea’s owners or directors. However, Chelsea’s leadership felt that he should have secured a higher league finish than sixth place. There were also significant differences in vision between Pochettino and the club’s hierarchy that couldn’t be resolved.

Who Will Be Chelsea’s New Manager?
Chelsea is considering several candidates for the new manager position. Ruben Amorim of Sporting CP and Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town have been approached. Roberto De Zerbi, formerly of Brighton, is also a favorite among bookmakers after leaving his role at the end of the Premier League season.
