Enzo Maresca is over the moon about becoming Chelsea’s new head coach, calling it his dream job.

The 44-year-old from Italy has just made the move from Leicester to Chelsea official, signing on for five years.

Chelsea’s big bosses, Todd Boehly and the Clearlake Capital team, are all in on Maresca. They’re betting he’s the guy to kick off a winning new chapter for the Blues.

They’re so sure about him that they’ve got an option to keep him for an extra year beyond his contract.

Maresca was up against some tough competition for the Chelsea spot, but he came out on top and couldn’t be happier about it.

“Getting to coach Chelsea, a top club in the world, is something any coach would dream of,” said the former midfield maestro for West Brom, Juventus, and Sevilla.

He’s pumped to get started and work with Chelsea’s super skilled players and staff. He wants to build a team that keeps winning and makes the fans cheer.

Ever since Todd Boehly’s group took over Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in May 2022, they’ve been looking for a bright, up-and-coming coach to lead the way at Stamford Bridge. They thought Graham Potter might be their man, but that didn’t pan out.

Now, with a solid game plan off the field, Chelsea’s leaders are feeling good about their setup.

Eghbali was a big player in getting Maresca on board, and then sports directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart worked out all the details.

After some chats among the Chelsea bigwigs, everyone agreed Maresca was the man for the job.

Maresca learned the ropes of coaching under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, starting with the Under-23s and then as an assistant manager.

Chelsea’s betting that Maresca’s love for keeping the ball and his game strategies will be a perfect match for the team at Stamford Bridge.
