Arsenal winger Marquinhos to be loaned to Norwich City

Marquinhos, a winger for Arsenal, is expected to finish the season on loan at Norwich City.

The 19-year-old was signed by the Gunners in a £3 million transfer from Sao Paulo last summer, but the club decided to keep him there to aid with his transition to English football.

Marquinhos has made six appearances for the Arsenal first team, the most of which came during their Europa League campaign. However, he now has the chance to play regularly in the second half of the season.

According to reports, Arsenal has now decided to loan Marquinhos to Norwich until the summer without giving the Championship team the option to purchase the Brazilian on a long-term basis.

Norwich is now sixth in the Championship but is 15 points away from a promotion spot that comes automatically.

With the £27 million acquisition of Leandro Trossard from Brighton this month, the Gunners have already improved their midfield options.

Since his summer 2017 transfer from Sao Paulo to Arsenal, Marquinhos has played in six matches.

But before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, the Premier League leaders are also trying to bring in a new central midfielder.

Brighton has previously turned down two offers for Moises Caicedo, and Arsenal is now debating whether to raise their most recent £70 million offer.
