Omari Kellyman to Sign Six-Year Deal with Chelsea

Omari Kellyman is set to join Chelsea from Aston Villa in a deal worth £19 million. The 18-year-old forward is expected to complete his medical on Monday and sign a six-year contract with the club. Once signed, he will become part of head coach Enzo Maresca’s senior squad.

Kellyman, who has played for England’s Under-20 team, joined Aston Villa from Derby County in 2022 and has since made six appearances for Villa’s first team. His move to Chelsea marks the second high-profile youth transfer from Aston Villa under the club’s current ownership by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. In August 2022, Chelsea signed Carney Chukwuemeka from Villa for £20 million, maintaining their strategy of investing in young talent with promising futures.

In another transfer update, Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen is nearing a £37.5 million move to Aston Villa. This transfer is separate from the Kellyman deal. Maatsen, who spent last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund and helped them reach the Champions League final, is now set to leave Chelsea permanently.

These transfers highlight Chelsea’s ongoing commitment to both nurturing young talent and making strategic moves in the transfer market.
