Maresca Calms Concerns Before Wolves Clash

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has reassured fans that Cole Palmer is fine after a brief scare during their recent match against Servette.

During Chelsea’s 2-0 victory in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off, Palmer appeared to be in some discomfort as he left the field. The young England midfielder had come on as a substitute in the second half and played a key role in securing the win. When the final whistle blew, he was seen holding his leg, which sparked concerns that he might have picked up an injury that could rule him out of the upcoming game against Wolves.

However, Maresca quickly put those worries to rest. “Cole felt something, but he looks fine,” Maresca said. “The medical team has already checked him, and he seems okay. Hopefully, there’s no problem, and he’ll be available for Sunday’s game.”

Despite the victory, the night wasn’t without its challenges. Some Chelsea fans expressed their frustration at halftime when the score was still 0-0, and there were more groans in the second half when the ball was passed back to the goalkeeper from midfield.

When asked about the fans’ reactions, Maresca had a clear message: “We’re still learning how to manage the game. Sometimes, keeping possession is the right move, especially when you’re 2-0 up. But we need to focus on doing this in the opponents’ half rather than our own.”

He added, “I understand the fans’ frustration, but there were a lot of positives tonight. We kept a clean sheet, made nine changes to the lineup, and saw great performances from players like Renato Veiga, Pedro Neto, and Marc Guiu. Filip Jorgensen also made his first official appearance. So, overall, it was a good night for us.”

Chelsea fans can breathe a little easier knowing Palmer should be ready for the trip to Wolves, as the Blues continue their journey this season.
