Chelsea’s European Journey Kicks Off Against Gent at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea starts their Conference League campaign in full swing tonight as they take on Gent at Stamford Bridge. After a close call in the play-off round, where the Blues edged out Swiss side Servette by winning the first leg and advancing on aggregate despite a loss in the second leg, they now set their sights on progressing in the competition.

Head coach Enzo Maresca is expected to rotate the squad again, as he’s been doing in matches outside the Premier League. Midfielder Cesare Casadei might feature in tonight’s game after attending the pre-match press conference alongside Maresca, which is a good sign of his involvement.

However, two notable absentees, Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia, won’t be available since they weren’t included in the squad for the league phase. Captain Reece James also remains out due to injury, but aside from him, Maresca has plenty of players to choose from in his large squad.
