Jorginho is about to move from Chelsea to Arsenal.
According to rumours, Arsenal and Chelsea have reached a £12 million transfer fee agreement to sign Jorginho.
The January transfer window shuts on Tuesday night, and the Arsenal are in a rush to add a new central midfielder to Mikel Arteta’s roster.
Arsenal has prioritized Moises Caicedo as a target, but Brighton has already turned down two offers, including one for £70 million.
The Premier League’s top teams are looking at other possibilities, and acquiring Jorginho from Chelsea would be a less expensive one.
The Italian international’s contract has reached its final six months, although it’s believed Chelsea was holding out for a £15 to £20 million transfer fee.
The Athletic reports that an agreement worth £12 million has been reached between Arsenal and Chelsea, and the 31-year-old is scheduled to visit the Arsenal training facility on Tuesday to complete his transfer.
According to the rumor, Jorginho will sign a contract with Arsenal that will run through 2024 with a one-year extension option.
Chelsea is still in contact with Benfica about signing Enzo Fernandez.
Argentina’s World Cup champion is eager to sign a transfer agreement with Chelsea before the deadline, but Chelsea and Benfica are unable to come to terms on a price due to the Portuguese club’s demand that Chelsea fulfill the midfielder’s €120 million (£105.4 million) release clause.
