Despite rumors that Granit Xhaka wants to leave Arsenal this summer, Mikel Arteta had nothing but respect for the player

In light of rumors that the important Arsenal midfielder is considering a summer return to the Bundesliga, Mikel Arteta lavished Granit Xhaka with admiration.

The 30-year-old Switzerland international has had a comeback this season after being given a more attacking role by his manager, whose unwavering confidence in the occasionally contentious player has been crucial in keeping him at the club.

Following his legendary altercation with his own fans under Unai Emery’s leadership, Xhaka was on the verge of leaving immediately after Arteta’s arrival. He also came dangerously close to leaving nearly two years ago when Jose Mourinho tried to buy him for Roma.

According to reports from earlier this week, Xhaka had already expressed interest in returning to the Bundesliga, where he spent four years at the center of Borussia Monchengladbach’s midfield, to his teammates.

In addition, Kicker stated that Leonita Xhaka believes Germany is the best country for raising the family’s young children, amid rumors that Bayer Leverkusen is considering a bid in the neighborhood of £15 million.

This year, Granit Xhaka has excelled at the center of Arsenal’s midfield.

‘There are always rumour,’, Rolfes was quoted as saying by German outlet Fussball Transfers when asked about the Xhaka link on Wednesday.

‘We are looking around the market, but I will not comment on that.

‘We want to fundamentally improve our team. There will be changes, we want to create new impetus.’

When asked about it during his pre-game press conference before Sunday’s crucial match against Brighton, Arteta said he was pleased with the performances of a player who had assisted in guiding his youthful squad throughout the course of the club’s successful season.

He said: ‘I’m not gonna reply to certain stories about Xhaka. I’m extremely happy with Granit, he’s having an incredible season.

‘This is probably the best season he’s had at the club. We are really happy to have him.’
