Even though they won 4-0 against Preston North End in the FA Cup 3rd round today, Pochettino was not happy with how they played in the first half and he expressed his displeasure after the match.

Julien Laurens, an ESPN FC pundit, also voiced his frustration on the US broadcast.

He began his tirade by saying, “This team is not getting any better! I don’t see any progress from one game to the next, from one week to the next.”

He also dismissed Pochettino’s argument that he needs more time, saying to ESPN, “But how much time? It’s January 2024 now, he’s been here since July 1st. I want to see some results. The first half was a joke, you and I [names ESPNFC pundits] and Freddie and Kate could have played better because there was no energy, no effort and the ball was just, well let’s just hope Sterling does something, let’s maybe wait for Palmer to make a run…The full backs are not involved at all. The attacking midfielders are not doing anything either.”

He also defended Mudryk, who had a quiet game, and continued his rant by saying; “They never utilized him [Mudryk], they never exploited his speed or his skills and I just don’t get what they’re trying to do.”

On the lack of tactical cohesion; “I don’t see any plan, I don’t see any movement, I don’t see any creativity. I don’t see much of anything really.”

On Enzo, “It all comes down to the lack of movement and the lack of identity of this team, if you give Enzo the ball but there’s no one moving around him, either from your full backs or from your wide players, or even from your striker to drop a bit deeper, Enzo can’t do much. He’s good on the ball but he’s not a miracle worker either.”

This was said live on ESPN.”
