Chelsea face Middlesbrough in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, with a chance to reach Wembley. Sky Sports interviewed Cole Palmer before the match and asked him about his transfer to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Palmer said to Sky, “I never wanted to leave City. That was not my plan. I hoped to go on loan for a year, then come back and play for the first team. But they [City] told me I had no option to go on loan, I had to stay or be sold.

That’s when Chelsea contacted me. I told them I was interested in joining them and I’m very happy here. I’m really pleased with the choice I made.”

Palmer has been a great addition to Stamford Bridge under the new owners and has already scored 8 goals in the Premier League this season.
