VIDEO: How Argylle Took Over Stamford Bridge With a Bizarre Marketing Campaign

If you were at Stamford Bridge today, you might have noticed some weird things happening during the game between Chelsea and Fulham. The reason? A movie called Argylle, which is coming out on February 1st.

Argylle is a spy thriller starring Henry Cavill, Samuel L. Jackson, Bryan Cranston, and many more. The movie is based on a novel by Ellie Conway, and it follows a spy who gets caught up in a global adventure.

But what does that have to do with Chelsea? Well, the club has been involved in a lot of product placement for the movie, and it seems like they went overboard today.

The campaign started on Thursday, when Enzo Fernandez, a Chelsea player, was seen wearing a backpack with a cat on it at the Cobham training base. The cat is apparently a character in the movie, and it has a special role.

On Friday, a figurine of the cat was placed in front of the microphone during Pochettino’s press conference. The manager did not seem to mind, and he even joked about it.

But today, things got even weirder. The cast of the movie was spotted doing various activities around the stadium and the press room, as captured by @JordanBCMedia and @Zach_fortag on Twitter.

Jordan posted a picture of what looked like the ‘dugout club’, a VIP area for fans, with the movie stars sitting together. They even occupied Pochettino’s seat in the press room before the game.

Zack posted a picture of the actors brushing their teeth in what seemed like a planned stunt from beginning to end. They were using toothbrushes with the movie logo on them, and they had toothpaste all over their mouths.

The fans and the media were baffled by the spectacle, and some were not amused. They felt that the club was prioritizing the movie over the game, and that the atmosphere was ruined.

Chelsea did not play well on the pitch either, and they barely managed to beat Fulham 1-0. The goal came from a penalty by cole palmer, who was also wearing a cat backpack.

The club has not commented on the campaign, and it is unclear if they will continue to promote the movie in the future. Some fans are hoping that this was a one-time thing, and that the club will focus on the football instead.

What do you think of the Argylle marketing campaign? Was it a clever way to generate buzz, or a disrespectful move to the fans and the game? Let us know in the comments below.
