Why Chelsea should keep Conor Gallagher, according to Joe Cole

Conor Gallagher is one of the most promising young midfielders in England. He has impressed on loan at various clubs, including Crystal Palace, where he was named the Player of the Year for the 2021–22 season. He has also earned his first senior caps for England, showing his quality and potential on the international stage.
But what does his future hold at Chelsea, his parent club? Will he get a chance to prove himself under Thomas Tuchel, or will he be sold to another team?
One person who believes that Chelsea should do everything to keep Gallagher is Joe Cole, a former Chelsea and England star. Cole recently spoke about Gallagher on John Obi Mikel’s podcast, where he praised his talent, improvement, and attitude.
Cole said that he has seen Gallagher grow as a player, and that he has the ability and talent to succeed at the highest level. He compared Gallagher’s career path to that of Jordan Henderson, who also had to overcome challenges and doubts before becoming a key player for Liverpool and England.
Cole also said that it would be a “travesty” if Chelsea let Gallagher go, especially to a rival club like Tottenham. He urged the Chelsea owners to not make that mistake, and to find the money to keep Gallagher at the club.
Cole added that he and Mikel, both former Chelsea midfielders, agree that Gallagher is good enough for Chelsea’s standards. He said that if he was picking a team, he would play Gallagher every week. He finished by saying that he hopes that someone at Chelsea is listening, and that they please keep Conor Gallagher.
