How Wolves Could Land Chelsea’s Broja on Loan This January

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja on loan for the rest of the season, according to The Guardian. The 22-year-old Albanian international has scored six goals in 32 appearances for Southampton during his loan spell last season, and has netted two goals for Chelsea this term.

However, Broja faces stiff competition for a starting spot at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku also vying for the centre-forward role. Jackson and Nkunku have been Chelsea’s most prolific scorers this season, with 15 and 12 goals respectively in all competitions.

Wolves are keen to bolster their attacking options, as they have struggled to find the back of the net this season. They have scored only 18 goals in 21 Premier League games, the third-lowest tally in the division. Raul Jimenez, their top scorer for the past two seasons, has been sidelined since November with a fractured skull.

The Guardian claims that Wolves’ interest in Broja is only “exploratory” at this stage, and that any move would depend on Chelsea’s willingness to let him go. The Blues are unlikely to sanction a loan deal unless they sign another striker themselves before the transfer window closes on February 1st.

Broja, who joined Chelsea’s academy in 2009, has made 26 appearances for the club so far, scoring two goals. He has also represented Albania at senior level, scoring four goals in 17 caps.
