According to Deloitte’s latest money league report for 22/23, Chelsea still rank among the top 10 clubs in Europe in terms of annual revenue. However, they face the threat of losing their spot next year if they fail to qualify for European competitions in 2024.

Real Madrid lead the pack with a staggering €831.4m in revenue for the 22/23 season, followed closely by Manchester City with €825.9m.

Chelsea are 9th in Europe and 5th in England, as Tottenham Hotspur have surpassed them with a revenue of €631.5m, compared to Chelsea’s €589.4m.

The main reason for Tottenham’s edge over Chelsea is their improved stadium facilities, which allow them to host more events and accommodate more fans. Tottenham’s match day revenue is €135m, while Chelsea’s is €88m in 2023. Despite being behind Tottenham, Chelsea’s revenue has grown by 4% from 2022, when they earned €568.3m, as per Deloitte.

Chelsea’s matchday and commercial revenue are the main drivers of their growth.

Without European football in 23/24, Chelsea’s revenue will decline next year, which makes securing a European spot this season crucial.
