Defender Might Return in Time to Help Chelsea After Benoit Badiashile’s Injury

Mauricio Pochettino said Levi Colwill could play for Chelsea against Crystal Palace on Monday. Colwill, an English defender, hasn’t played in Chelsea’s last four games because of a hamstring injury.

Pochettino mentioned that a final decision on Colwill’s fitness will come after a medical check on Sunday. The team will see if the 20-year-old is ready for Monday’s match at Selhurst Park.

Regarding other injured players, Pochettino said that two center-backs might recover in time for the Palace game. One of them is Benoit Badiashile, who got injured during Wednesday’s 3-1 FA Cup replay win over Aston Villa.

“We need to assess Badiashile’s condition after a scan,” Pochettino said. “It doesn’t seem like a serious problem. We’ll know more about his situation later today.”

Pochettino added that another player, Trevoh Chalobah, is progressing well with the team, but there’s no other significant update for now.

Chelsea showed an excellent performance against Aston Villa, and Pochettino hopes they can keep up the momentum.

“The difference this time was our strong performance,” he explained. “We realized we need to compete differently and win games. We should maintain this approach for future matches.”

Two midfielders, Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher, scored goals in the last game. Gallagher’s goal was his first of the season.

“Conor and Enzo are fantastic players who work hard,” Pochettino praised. “I’m delighted for Conor; it’s great to see them enjoying football. They deserve this success for their dedication and effort.
