Chelsea: Mauricio Pochettino reacts to Gary Neville ‘billion-pound bottlejobs’ jibe after Carabao Cup final loss

Mauricio Pochettino thinks Gary Neville’s words about Chelsea were unfair. Chelsea lost to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup Final, and Van Dijk’s goal sealed the deal in extra time. This was Chelsea’s sixth consecutive loss in a domestic cup final, a new record.

Liverpool had many key players out due to injuries, so they relied on young talents. Chelsea’s team was also young, but they’ve spent a lot of money on players over the years.

Neville called Chelsea “blue, billion-pound bottlejobs” during the game commentary. Pochettino didn’t hear it but said comparing the teams’ ages, they’re similar. He respects Neville’s opinion but thinks it’s not a fair comparison.

Pochettino feels proud of his team despite the loss. He acknowledges they need to learn from this defeat and work harder.

He sees Liverpool as a good example for Chelsea. Liverpool went through tough times before achieving success, and Pochettino wants his team to believe in their project similarly.

Pochettino is disappointed not to win a trophy again but knows it’s part of football. He urges his team to keep pushing forward despite setbacks.
