Chelsea has brought in Owen Eastwood to lead a special project about the club’s history and identity. This project will cover everything about the club.

Owen Eastwood, who is from New Zealand, was chosen by Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, who are in charge of sports at Chelsea. They want to make Stamford Bridge and Cobham better places by including parts of the club’s history.

In an interview in 2022, Eastwood explained, “I’m really good at creating the best environment for people to compete in.”

Before this, Eastwood worked closely with Bryce Kavanagh, who is in charge of performance at Chelsea. They worked together in the England national team from 2016 to 2022 when Gareth Southgate was the coach.

When Eastwood was at the Football Association with Dan Ashworth and Dave Reddin, they made special numbers for England players. These numbers are now given to players who play for England. The players get caps, identity cards, and their numbers on their shirts. This idea has been really liked by the players, and it has made the England team better under Southgate.

Eastwood also worked with the European Ryder Cup golf team in 2023 and the South African rugby team from 2010 to 2019.

He calls himself a “performance coach” and is inspired by Maori culture from New Zealand. In his book Belonging, he talks about finding your identity story, having a common purpose, thinking about future success, sharing with others, understanding group dynamics, bringing out talent, and using our differences to be better.

He has also worked with NATO and the Royal Ballet School.
