Mauricio Pochettino says he’d rather Chelsea fans boo him than his players. He thinks his players deserve praise and support.

At the Brentford match, fans were unhappy and chanted against Pochettino. Chelsea ended up with a 2-2 draw. Fans are upset about how the club is doing, and they’re also criticizing Todd Boehly, one of the owners. Some fans even chanted in support of Roman Abramovich and Jose Mourinho.

Pochettino thinks the team has been playing well. He said, “I’m really happy with how we’ve been playing.”

When asked about fans being upset, he said, “Yes, if they want to listen, that’s great. If not, there’s not much I can do. But we shouldn’t blame the fans. If they’re frustrated, it’s better they direct it at me than at the players. I can handle it. I believe over time, things will change.”

He doesn’t want fans blaming the players. He wants them to support the players. He said, “I don’t mind taking the blame. I’m strong. I’m 52. The players deserve support. If someone has to take the blame, that’s fine. That’s why I’m the coach.”

Pochettino thought Chelsea could have won at Brentford. He believes his team has reacted well after losing in the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool.

He said, “We had a chance to score with Raheem Sterling. We need to remember we’ve played three games in six days. Leeds and Brentford had more time to rest. It’s tough when our squad is short because of injuries. But we’ll keep fighting for our place.
