Chelsea football player Sam Kerr will go to court next year because she’s accused of bothering a police officer in a way that’s considered racially offensive.

Kerr showed up in court online on Monday. The Daily Mail says she only spoke to say who she was and to say she’s not guilty.

This all goes back to something that happened in Twickenham on January 30, 2023. They say Kerr said mean things that upset a police officer named PC Lovell, who was dealing with a problem about a taxi fare.

Kerr has to go to court for four days in February next year.

A spokesperson for the police said, “Samantha Kerr, who’s 30 years old and lives in Richmond, got charged by mail on January 21. She’s accused of doing something racially offensive to a police officer on January 30, 2023, in Twickenham.”

Kerr got hurt and won’t play for the rest of the season because of a knee injury during Chelsea’s training in Morocco in January.

She’s a really well-known player in women’s football. Last year, she carried the Australian flag at King Charles III’s crowning ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
