Chelsea snare former media chief from Man Utd in latest backroom coup

Chelsea’s new owners have hired someone new from a rival team in the Premier League. They’ve brought in Phil Lynch, who used to work for Manchester United. Lynch was in charge of digital stuff there, but now he’s leaving to join the team that bought Chelsea and a French club called Strasbourg. He’ll be in charge of digital stuff for them.

At United, Lynch was the boss of media before, but now he’s going to focus mainly on Chelsea for his new team. He’s not the only American joining Chelsea, though. There are others like Chris Jurasek and Todd Kline.

Lynch had a bit of a disagreement with a former United player, Gary Neville, back in 2021. Neville said Lynch was making players act like robots on and off the field because of some video that came out showing how the club works with players on social media.

Lynch leaving United doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Sir Jim Ratcliffe buying a part of the club from the Glazer family.
