Fluminense’s sports director, Fred, admits that signing Thiago Silva is something they’ve been hoping for. Thiago, who is 39 years old, will finish his contract with Chelsea soon. Chelsea seems to be searching for new center-backs for the next season.

Leny Yoro from Lille has caught Chelsea’s attention due to his excellent performance this season. However, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also interested in him. Other players like Sporting’s Ousmane Diomande and Nice’s Jean-Clair Todio are being considered. Chelsea is also looking for a new striker and a left-back.

Despite being praised as the “Benjamin Button of football” by his former manager Thomas Tuchel, Thiago Silva hasn’t played in Chelsea’s last three games due to injuries.

It’s believed that Thiago has received offers from Fluminense and other Brazilian clubs, as well as from Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Thiago started his career with Fluminense and returned there between 2006 and 2009.

Fred mentioned in an interview with ESPN Brasil that Thiago Silva has been a long-time dream for Fluminense. He added that the club’s president talks to Thiago almost every week. Fred expressed his admiration for Thiago’s character and friendship, saying that he deserves the best. Fred emphasized that the doors of Fluminense are wide open for Thiago’s return.

Fred also urged caution not to pressure Thiago. He acknowledged the love of the fans and the club for Thiago and stated that it’s inevitable for him to return to Fluminense someday. Fred expressed hope that it would happen soon, aligning with Thiago’s and the club’s wishes.
