Hayes issues warning to Chelsea players after big UWCL win over Ajax

Emma Hayes reminded her Chelsea players that their Women’s Champions League quarter-final isn’t over yet, even though they won 3-0 in the first leg against Ajax in Amsterdam.

With Lauren James and Sjoeke Nusken scoring for Chelsea, they’re in a good position for the semi-finals. But Emma Hayes wants her team to stay focused.

If Chelsea make it to the semi-finals, they’ll face either Brann or Barcelona. But Hayes isn’t taking anything for granted.

She said, “The game isn’t finished yet. Sometimes after winning away, players relax too much and perform poorly at home. We need to stay alert and learn from past experiences.”

Sjoeke Nusken, who has scored ten goals since joining Chelsea, impressed Hayes. She said, “Nusken belongs on the big stage. She’s versatile and can play in different positions. Maybe I’ll even put her in goal next week just to see!”

Chelsea is aiming for a quadruple this season before Hayes leaves for the USA. They’re currently leading the WSL table and will play against West Ham on Sunday.
