Chelsea’s young talent, Kendry Paez, might not face serious trouble after being seen in a New York strip club with his Ecuador teammates before their match against Italy.

Paez, who is only 16 and signed with Chelsea for a hefty sum last summer, was caught on camera alongside his older teammates Gonzalo Plata, 23, and Robert Arboleda, 32, at the club on the night before Ecuador lost 2-0 to Italy last Sunday.

This incident has upset many people in Ecuador. However, Chelsea has decided to let the Ecuador Football Federation and Independiente del Valle, the club where Paez is staying until he turns 18, handle any disciplinary actions.

It’s likely that Paez will be reminded of his responsibilities, but his older teammates might face more serious consequences.

Reports from Ecuador suggest that the older players could be dropped from the national team, while Paez and other younger players might be seen as having been influenced in the wrong direction.

The Ecuadorian Football Federation released a statement expressing their disappointment with the situation and emphasizing their commitment to the values of Ecuadorian soccer.

Paez’s presence in the strip club is especially noteworthy because he’s underage according to New York’s laws, which set the legal age for entry at 21.

Despite this controversy, there’s still a lot of excitement surrounding Paez’s future at Chelsea. He’s considered one of the best young talents globally and is expected to join Chelsea officially in 2025.

Paez has already visited London several times and even trained with Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team squad in December after the South American season ended.
