Chelsea secured their spot in the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League by winning against Ajax with a total score of 4-1. They played a great game both in Amsterdam and at Stamford Bridge.
In the first half, Mayra Ramirez scored a goal for Chelsea, putting them in a very good position. This happened after Erin Cuthbert made a smart move in the Ajax half, passing the ball to Guro Reiten, who then assisted Ramirez to score her first-ever European goal.
Ajax managed to level the score later in the game when Chasity Grant scored a goal. It was a bit of a soft goal as the ball slipped past Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Zecira Musovic. However, Musovic redeemed herself with a fantastic save later in the game, preventing Ajax from taking the lead.
Now, Chelsea waits to find out their next opponent in the semi-finals. Barcelona, the defending champions, will face Brann. Barcelona currently leads the tie, and it’s likely they will make it to the next round. This sets up a potential rematch between Chelsea and Barcelona, which could be exciting as Barcelona defeated Chelsea in the semi-finals last year and also in the final in 2021.
In another quarter-final match, Lyon secured their spot in the semi-finals by defeating Benfica with an aggregate score of 6-2. They will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Hacken in the next round. Currently, PSG is leading that tie 2-1.
