Chelsea’s young players like Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah, Ian Maatsen, and Armando Broja might have to find new teams if Chelsea needs to sell them quickly to get some money this summer.

Reports say Chelsea has to make £100 million by selling players before June 30. This money has to be in their accounts for the 2023-24 season.

Chelsea wants to follow the rules of the Premier League about making a profit and managing money well. But they’ve spent over £1 billion on players since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over. They want to buy a striker, a center-back, and a left-back this summer.

Young players from Chelsea’s academy are seen as making pure profit for the club. Some worry they’ll be the first to go if the club needs to sell players. But Gallagher, Chalobah, Maatsen, and Broja are willing to wait for the right chance.

Gallagher is valued between £45 million to £50 million. Tottenham wanted him last summer, and he wants to play for a top Premier League club.

Chalobah said no to a £25 million move to Nottingham Forest, and Maatsen turned down a £31.5 million move to Burnley last summer, even though Chelsea said yes to both offers.

Maatsen has a £35 million release clause. Clubs like Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are interested in buying him.

Chalobah also wants to play for a top club in England or Europe.

Broja wants a good club for his next move. He won’t stay at Fulham after his loan ends because he didn’t get much playing time. But he’ll try to show his skills at Euro 2024. AC Milan and West Ham have been interested in him before.

In the 2025-2026 season, Premier League clubs will have new financial rules. These rules will limit how much money clubs can spend on players and other costs.

But for now, PSR rules, which look at a club’s finances over three years, are still in place. This helps clubs adjust to the new rules.

Newcastle will pay Chelsea £28 million to make left-back Lewis Hall’s loan permanent this summer.

Levi Colwill and Reece James are also from Chelsea’s academy, but the club says they won’t be sold. Star player Cole Palmer is also staying.

If Chelsea sells Romelu Lukaku for less than £37 million, it will count as a loss. The same goes for Kepa Arrizabalaga, on loan at Real Madrid, and Hakim Ziyech, on loan at Galatasaray, if they’re sold for less than £10 million and £7 million respectively.

Chelsea doesn’t have as many players to sell as last summer when they sold players like Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, and Mateo Kovacic, making around £400 million.
