Cole Palmer downplayed the fuss over the penalty incident during Chelsea’s big 6-0 win against Everton. He said after the game, the players were all good-natured and making light of the situation.

The match at Stamford Bridge was going great for Chelsea until a disagreement erupted over who should take a penalty in the 64th minute. Palmer and Madueke both wanted to take it after getting fouled in quick succession. Then there was some arguing between Madueke and Nicolas Jackson. Palmer, who had already scored a hat-trick and was Chelsea’s go-to penalty taker this season, got involved.

Captain Conor Gallagher eventually stepped in to sort things out, and Palmer calmly scored the penalty, making it his fourth goal of the night. This goal put him tied with Erling Haaland for the most goals this season.

Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, was not happy about the situation and promised to take strong action if it happens again.

But Palmer himself didn’t think it was a big deal. He said it’s normal for different players to want to take responsibility, especially with a big lead like 4-0. He acknowledged there was some arguing, but everyone was just eager to win. He mentioned that they were all laughing and joking about it in the locker room afterward.

So, despite the disagreement, Palmer sees it as a sign that everyone on the team is willing to step up and take charge when needed.
