Chelsea’s captain, Reece James, recently hinted at his return from injury, expressing optimism with a statement: “the comeback is on.” James has been sidelined due to ongoing hamstring problems, which led him to undergo surgery in December in Finland. Despite initial hopes of a swift recovery, the 24-year-old hasn’t been able to join training sessions as expected.

The surgeon who performed James’ surgery, Dr. Lasse Lempainen, had indicated a return by April, suggesting James could be fit for Euro 2024 with England. However, Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, remains uncertain about the exact timeline for James’ recovery, though he remains hopeful for his return this season.

In an upbeat Instagram post, James hinted at his progress, expressing his determination and eagerness to return stronger than before. However, it’s unlikely he’ll be ready to play in the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City due to Chelsea’s extensive injury list.

Despite James’ absence, Chelsea may see the return of Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling, with Levi Colwill and Enzo Fernandez also in contention to bolster the team against Manchester City, who are favored for the Premier League title.
