Chelsea are not billion-pound bottle jobs… but they need a finisher after painful FA Cup defeat to Man City

Chelsea played against Manchester City and lost, meaning they won’t win any trophies this season. This happened because they couldn’t score, even though they were in control for most of the game. Just like when they lost to Liverpool in February, they couldn’t convert their dominance into goals.

The only goal of the match was scored by Bernardo Silva, assisted by Kevin De Bruyne. Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s manager, was angry at the referee for not giving a penalty when Cole Palmer’s free-kick hit Jack Grealish’s arm in the box.

Pochettino must also be frustrated with his team’s poor finishing. Nicolas Jackson had several chances to score but missed them all. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t find the net, showing that he’s not very good at scoring goals.

On the positive side, Chelsea showed good teamwork in defense, with players like Malo Gusto and Thiago Silva performing well. However, their midfield was inconsistent, except for Moises Caicedo who played exceptionally.

The attack also had its moments, with Conor Gallagher providing support on the left, while Jackson and Palmer tried to score in the middle. Noni Madueke did his part on the right wing.

Overall, Chelsea’s performance wasn’t bad, but their inability to finish chances cost them the game. Pochettino needs better finishers in his team, and Chelsea is considering signing new strikers like Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko, or Ivan Toney.
