Pochettino: We must prove we’re not a one-man team in Palmer’s absence

Mauricio Pochettino is basically saying that his players need to remember they represent Chelsea as a team, not just one player like Cole Palmer. Palmer couldn’t make it to training because he’s sick, and might not play against Arsenal. This would be his first missed game since December. He’s been on fire lately, trying to win the Premier League Golden Boot alongside Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins.

When asked if other players can step up if Palmer can’t play, Pochettino said they’ll have to wait and see. He sees it as a good test for the team to prove they’re not reliant on just one player.

Palmer has been the go-to guy for penalties lately, but if he’s out, someone else will have to take over. There’s been some talk among players about who should take the penalties if Palmer can’t, especially after a disagreement between Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke during the Everton game.

Pochettino thinks the players aren’t envious of Palmer’s success, but they want the same opportunities he gets. He jokes that they want the same “pill” Palmer takes (metaphorically speaking, of course). It’s a challenge for them to step up and show what they can do if Palmer isn’t on the field.
