Arteta makes claim about Man City after selling Palmer to Chelsea

Mikel Arteta thinks that Manchester City’s ability to sell Cole Palmer and still compete for the title shows just how strong they are.

City sold Palmer to Chelsea for £42.5 million in the summer, and since then, the 20-year-old has been impressive, scoring 20 goals in the Premier League, putting him on par with Erling Haaland as the joint top scorer.

Arteta believes that City’s success despite letting go of Palmer is a clear demonstration of their strength.

“Well, that’s a great example,” said Arteta. “But I know firsthand. I’ve been on the pitch with them every single day, so I understand their quality and mentality. I know the manager, the club’s preparation, resources, and structure. That’s the challenge.

“They’ve consistently performed well, and I’m not sure any other team has matched their level of consistency.”

Arsenal is set to play Chelsea soon, but Palmer may miss the game due to illness.

Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s coach, has urged his team to rise to the occasion in Palmer’s absence and show that they’re not solely reliant on him to win.

“It’s a good test if Palmer can’t play tomorrow,” said Pochettino. “It’s a chance for his teammates or others in similar positions to step up. They should be motivated to prove that this is Chelsea Football Club, not just the Cole Palmer show.
