Chelsea injury update: Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto, Ben Chilwell latest news and return dates

Chelsea’s season just took a really bad turn after getting beaten badly by Arsenal in a local match.

Let me break it down: They let in five goals, which is the worst they’ve ever done against Arsenal. And it didn’t look good right from the start. A young player named Alfie Gilchrist had a rough time defending, especially in the beginning.

Gilchrist got his first chance to start playing as a right-back because some of Chelsea’s main players were injured. Malo Gusto and Reece James couldn’t play, and Ben Chilwell wasn’t there either. Plus, Cole Palmer, who’s a big deal on the team, couldn’t play because he was sick.

Here’s the scoop on all the Chelsea players who are injured and when they might be back…

Cole Palmer
The star player Cole Palmer couldn’t join the game against Arsenal on Tuesday because he was sick. It was a big disappointment for the team. Coach Pochettino said they expected this and hoped for his speedy recovery.

Malo Gusto
Gusto, the right-back player, hurt his knee and will be out for some time. At first, the coach said it’s not a major issue, but later, he added that he’s not entirely sure.

Ben Chilwell
Chilwell, the left-back player, had a knee injury since March. Although he played briefly in some matches, he couldn’t participate against Arsenal. The coach confirmed it’s the same old problem.

Christopher Nkunku
Nkunku, another key player, has been struggling with injuries this season. He had knee troubles at the start, then a hip issue, and later a hamstring problem. The coach hopes he’ll be fit for the last matches.

Robert Sanchez
Sanchez got injured during a previous game and hasn’t played since. Although he’s training with the team partly, he won’t be back in full action soon.

Levi Colwill
Colwill injured his toe in February and hasn’t played since early March due to increased pain. He’s doing light training but not fully fit yet.

Reece James

James faced a hamstring injury early in the season and had to undergo surgery in December. He’s back to training now but his return date is uncertain.

Lesley Ugochukwu
Ugochukwu hurt his hamstring in December, played once, then got injured again. There’s no update on when he’ll be back.

Romeo Lavia
Lavia played only once this season due to an ankle injury. He got another injury later and won’t play this season.

Wesley Fofana
Fofana has been out since last summer due to a torn ACL. It’s unlikely he’ll return this season.

These injuries are a big challenge for the team, but they’re hopeful for the players’ recoveries.
