Amorim hits out at ‘funny’ fallout to West Ham talks amid Chelsea link

Sporting CP’s manager, Ruben Amorim, finds it amusing how people in Portugal reacted to his meeting with West Ham.

Last month, the 39-year-old went to London to talk with West Ham about the possibility of taking over from David Moyes.

Even though nothing is certain yet about Moyes staying or leaving, it seems likely he’ll leave after this season. Moyes hasn’t signed a new contract, even though he was offered one earlier this year.

Word is, Julen Lopetegui, the former coach of Wolves, is now the top choice to replace Moyes at West Ham.

They’ve been talking with Lopetegui lately, but they haven’t reached a final agreement yet.

Amorim, who’s said to have a big buyout clause in his contract with Sporting CP, is still in the running for the West Ham job.

He was also interviewed by Chelsea before, and there are rumors that Chelsea might still be interested. Chelsea’s current manager, Mauricio Pochettino, isn’t sure about his future there.

Speaking on Friday before Sporting’s game with Portimonense this weekend, Amorim said: “I’ve already explained everything to the people who need to know, like Hugo Viana, our sporting director. But it seems like everyone else has their own ideas.

“I’m not bothered by it. You can stick with your theories. But honestly, it’s funny to see how some people make up stories about me offering myself to other clubs.
