Arsenal is edging closer to securing the signature of Ajax and Netherlands defender Jurrien Timber

A move that has been welcomed by Arsenal’s current defender Jakub Kiwior. The Gunners are expected to finalize the deal in the coming weeks, as they continue their efforts to strengthen their defensive line ahead of the upcoming season.

Arsenal initially saw their first bid for the 22-year-old defender rejected by Ajax. However, the London club returned with an improved offer over the weekend, signaling their determination to bring Timber to the Emirates Stadium. While the exact details of the second bid remain undisclosed, negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, with the expectation that a compromise will be reached, considering Timber’s desire to make the move to north London.

Jurrien Timber has already made a significant impact at Ajax, accumulating 121 appearances for the club and earning 15 caps for the Netherlands national team. His versatility and defensive prowess make him an attractive prospect for Arsenal as they look to bolster their backline.

Personal terms have already been agreed upon between Timber and Arsenal, with the Dutchman set to sign a five-year contract with the Gunners. His imminent arrival at the Emirates Stadium will provide additional competition for Jakub Kiwior, who joined Arsenal from Spezia in January and has already featured in eight games for the club.

Despite the increased competition, Kiwior remains unfazed and welcomes the arrival of top-quality players at Arsenal. He understands that having a strong squad with depth is crucial for the team’s success and ambitions of winning trophies. Kiwior’s positive attitude reflects the collective mindset within Mikel Arteta’s squad as they strive for excellence and silverware.

The addition of Jurrien Timber to Arsenal’s defensive ranks will further enhance the team’s options and improve their defensive solidity. Timber’s technical ability, tactical awareness, and international experience will provide valuable contributions to the Gunners’ backline. His arrival is eagerly anticipated by fans and pundits alike, as they await the official announcement of the transfer and look forward to seeing Timber don the iconic red and white kit.
