For a long time, people thought Declan Rice would end up back at Chelsea. Now, he’s got a chance to prove them wrong.

Arsenal and Chelsea are facing off at the Emirates Stadium tonight, and it’s a big deal for the title race.

Rice has been a key player for Arsenal this season, and tonight will be no different as they aim to stay ahead in the Premier League.

Since joining from West Ham last summer for a whopping £105 million, Rice has brought something new to Arsenal’s midfield: athleticism and strength.

In contrast, Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, who cost over £100 million each, haven’t lived up to expectations yet.

Fernandez, especially, has struggled to adapt to life at Chelsea and still struggles with English.

Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, understands the challenges Fernandez faces. He believes the Argentine midfielder will come good eventually but acknowledges the difficulties of moving to a new country.

Pochettino said, “Even though he’s a world champion, he needs time to adjust to the Premier League and Chelsea. It’s tough for him, but he’ll get there.”

Fernandez’s difficulties are understandable, but Caicedo’s struggles are surprising, given his success at Brighton. Arsenal wanted to sign him last summer, but he hasn’t performed as expected at Chelsea.

Perhaps Chelsea will regret not going for Rice when Frank Lampard was in charge. Lampard wanted Rice but there were concerns at Chelsea about his ability in tight spaces. Also, Rice’s wage demands were high, and Chelsea’s owners weren’t willing to meet them.

Instead, Chelsea put their faith in Fernandez and later Caicedo, despite their slow starts.

There are doubts about their height, though, and Arsenal might target that weakness tonight. By playing Jorginho, Arsenal could exploit the midfield and put pressure on Caicedo and Fernandez.

Arsenal are expected to win tonight, which would widen the gap between the two teams to 30 points. But Chelsea has shown they can perform in big games this season, so Arsenal shouldn’t underestimate them.

Arteta, who played with Pochettino at PSG years ago, believes Chelsea will bounce back. He thinks Pochettino is doing a great job and is sure Chelsea will improve.

“It’s a huge match between two big clubs, a London derby,” said Arteta. “We’ve prepared well, and we’re ready for the challenge.
