Arsenal title race in doubt per William Saliba injury update

William Saliba has missed Arsenal last five weeks of Arsenal’s games

Arsenal worry that if William Saliba plays again this season, he could suffer a long-term injury, which would end his season.

After suffering a back injury during a Europa League loss to Sporting Lisbon, the Frenchman has been sidelined for the past five weeks.

Without Saliba, Arsenal’s title defense has stumbled, with the Gunners earning just three points in their past nine games.

Saliba was supposed to return to the team after the international break, but according to the Daily Mail, he has suffered “structural damage” to his back.

With these ailments, it is important to remain patient because any flare-up could necessitate a lengthy absence from play.

And despite Arsenal’s desperate attempts to get Saliba back into the starting lineup, it is alleged that this is the very worry that could cause him to miss the rest of the season.

Saliba is too young (21 years old) to suffer such an injury, and Arsenal does not want to jeopardize his growth.

The team has given up seven goals in its last three games, though, and on Wednesday will play Manchester City in a title game.

With two more games played than City, should the Gunners lose, they would hold a one-point advantage at the top.
