Arteta explains why Chelsea’s owners will get it right in the end

Mikel Arteta is pretty sure that Chelsea’s new owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, will make things work out well. He thinks this because, well, money talks.

Even though Chelsea’s owners have spent a ton of cash since taking over in 2022, the team hasn’t won any big trophies. They’re also likely to miss out on the Champions League again this season.

Now, Arsenal, who are aiming for the top spot, are going up against Chelsea on Tuesday. If they win, they’ll be a whopping 30 points ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League.

But Arteta, the Arsenal manager, believes that Chelsea will eventually get better under Boehly and Clearlake. He’s got faith in the squad they’ve built and in their manager, Mauricio Pochettino.

Arteta said, “I’m sure they’ll be successful. They’ve got a great team and a great manager. If you look at the past 20 years in the Premier League, the teams that spend the most tend to do well. So, yeah, they’ll probably get there.”

If Arsenal wins on Tuesday, they’ll be four points ahead in the Premier League standings. But Manchester City will still have two games in hand.

Arteta knows it won’t be an easy game against Chelsea. He’s impressed with the progress they’ve made under Pochettino, especially in recent weeks.

They really deserve to be higher up in the league when you see how they’ve been playing, Arteta said. “They’ve made it to a final and a semi-final recently, and they could have done even better. Pochettino’s doing a fantastic job, and I’m sure he’ll lead them to success.
