Brighton & Nice are interested in Reiss Nelson towards his contract expiration

Reiss Nelson is reportedly drawing interest from Brighton and Nice as his contract with Arsenal is scheduled to expire in the summer.

The winger has become somewhat of a cult hero this season thanks to his game changing contributions in just a handful of appearances.

Nelson has so far scored three goals and provided two assists in just three Premier League games, including the game-winning goal in the 97th minute of last Saturday’s dramatic 3-2 comeback triumph over Bournemouth.

As a result, Arsenal retained its five-point advantage over Manchester City at the top of the standings, moving closer to winning their first league championship in 19 years.

Nelson’s contract expires in the summer, so despite his heroics, this may be his final campaign at the Emirates.

His playing time for his boyhood club has been limited by a reoccurring thigh injury as well as competition for a spot in the starting Lineup, with players like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard ahead of him in the pecking order.

Given that several teams, including West Ham, have been connected with signing the England youth international, the 23-year-old may possibly choose to play elsewhere in the near future.

Even though Nice and Brighton have had positive discussions about signing him to a new deal, CBS has recently reported that both clubs are interested in signing him on a free transfer.

In the meantime, Nice has two ex-Arsenal players on its roster in midfield legend Aaron Ramsey and record signing Nicolas Pepe, who is currently on loan in France.

Nelson has repeatedly professed his desire to stay with his childhood club, which he first joined in 2007, so it would take a lot to get him to quit the Emirates.

As Arsenal travels to Sporting Lisbon on Thursday for the opening leg of their Europa League round of 16 match, the attacker may get a rare start.
