Chelsea’s Mixed Performance in UEFA Conference League

Chelsea secured their first win under Enzo Maresca by defeating Servette in the UEFA Conference League play-off. It wasn’t the most convincing performance, but the Blues managed to get the job done.

The first half was tight and ended without any goals. Some Chelsea fans expressed their frustration by booing the team as they left the field. But things improved in the second half.

Christopher Nkunku gave Chelsea the lead with a penalty, and later, Noni Madueke doubled the advantage after a well-timed pass from Enzo Fernandez.

With a 2-0 win, Chelsea heads into next week’s second leg in Switzerland with a comfortable lead.

Player Ratings

  • Filip Jorgensen – 6/10
A clean sheet on his debut. He wasn’t tested much but handled everything well when called upon.
  • Axel Disasi – 6/10
Despite rumors of a transfer, he delivered a solid performance, especially when Chelsea shifted to a back-three.
  • Tosin Adarabioyo – 6/10
Strong debut. He was dominant in the air and held his ground in defense.
  • Benoit Badiashile – 6/10
He saw a lot of the ball as Chelsea built up play through him. Overall, he was steady but didn’t stand out.
  • Renato Veiga – 6/10
Played at left-back but moved into midfield when Chelsea had possession. A solid performance with some strong tackles.
  • Moises Caicedo – 6/10
The captain for the night put in a solid shift, breaking up play and keeping things simple.
  • Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 6/10
Full of energy and tried to make an impact on both ends, but his final ball was sometimes off.
  • Pedro Neto – 7/10
One of the better performers in a dull first half. He beat his man a few times and might keep his place for Sunday’s game against Wolves.
  • Christopher Nkunku – 7/10
Won and scored the penalty. He’s still getting back to full fitness but showed some sharp moments.
  • Mykhailo Mudryk – 5/10
A frustrating player to watch. He shows flashes of brilliance, but his final product often disappoints.
  • Marc Guiu – 5/10
Looked promising in the first half and linked play well, but missed a golden opportunity after the break.

Substitutes

  • Cole Palmer (Guiu 57’) – 6/10
Showed some nice touches, playing as a No. 10 instead of out wide.
  • Noni Madueke (Neto 57’) – 7/10
Came off the bench to score a well-taken goal after a great pass over the top.
  • Enzo Fernandez (Nkunku 57’) – 7/10
Assisted Madueke’s goal with a brilliant pass. A lively cameo appearance.
  • Romeo Lavia (Caicedo 85’) – N/A
Came on too late to make an impact.

Chelsea didn’t put in their best performance, but they did enough to take a solid lead into the second leg in Switzerland next week.
