Chelsea returned to the top of the Women’s Super League after a bit of controversy in their 2-0 win against second-from-the-bottom West Ham.

Aggie Beever-Jones scored in just the second minute, giving Chelsea an early lead. But West Ham had a chance to equalize with Honoka Hayashi, only for the referee to rule it offside.

Replays showed that the goal should have counted, but since there’s no Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in this league, the decision couldn’t be changed. Then, in the 88th minute, Erin Cuthbert scored another goal for Chelsea, securing their win and putting them back on top of the league table, tied with Manchester City but with a better goal difference.

Liverpool couldn’t break their winless streak against Everton, settling for a draw at Goodison Park. The single point was enough to move them into fourth place ahead of Manchester United.

Beth England scored her first league goal of the season for Tottenham, helping them beat Bristol City 1-0. Bristol City now faces a tough road ahead as they’re six points behind and still have to play against top teams like Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

Brighton won a thrilling match against Leicester with Elisabeth Terland scoring the winning goal five minutes before the final whistle. Lena Petermann had equalized for Leicester just before that, but Brighton managed to turn things around with goals from Madison Haley and Katie Robinson earlier in the game.
