Chelsea’s young midfielder, Romeo Lavia, won’t be playing for the rest of the season. He hurt his thigh pretty badly during his first game for the team against Crystal Palace in December.

The club said he won’t be back until next season. Lavia only got to play for 32 minutes in his first game at Stamford Bridge. He joined Chelsea from Southampton for a big £53million in August. Liverpool almost signed him, but Chelsea got him instead.

Before joining Chelsea, Lavia wasn’t in the best shape because of transfer talks and then he got a bad ankle injury in September. He also missed two months of playing last season because of his hamstring while playing for Southampton.

Chelsea’s coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has a lot of players injured too. Up to eight of them won’t be playing in the next match against Burnley. Players like Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, and Lesley Ugochukwu are still recovering from their injuries.

Malo Gusto got sick after playing for France Under-21s, but he should be okay by Saturday. Carney Chukwuemeka also got hurt while playing for England’s U21s and came back early.

Cole Palmer missed some training sessions with England last week, but he was on the bench as a substitute for a match against Belgium.
