Chelsea Women’s team is excited to welcome Sonia Bompastor as the new head coach!

Sonia, who is 43 years old, will be taking over from Emma Hayes. Emma has been amazing, guiding the team to win 14 big trophies, including the league title five times in a row! After 12 fantastic years, she’s moving on to coach the United States team.

Sonia isn’t new to success either. She’s coming from Lyon, where she helped the team win seven trophies in just three years. She’ll start leading Chelsea on July 1st.

Sonia shared her excitement, saying, “I’m so thankful to be part of Chelsea Football Club and lead the women’s team. It’s a big name in English football, and I’m ready to work hard for this new challenge. I want to keep up the great work Emma has done and make our own mark. Here’s to a new journey!”

Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, who are in charge of sports at Chelsea, believe Sonia is perfect for the job. They said, “Sonia is just the right person to continue what Emma started. She knows what it takes to win and has a lot of experience both as a player and a coach. She fits right in with what Chelsea stands for. We can’t wait to see her in action!
