Arsenal and Man City are set to rattle horn for the Premier League title

According to William Gallas, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham will all miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League this year.

Just over halfway through the 2022–23 season, there is a clearer picture of how teams are doing, even though a lot may happen between now and the end of May.

While the title competition between Arsenal and Manchester City is expected to be intense, the race to finish in the top four and advance to the Champions League is extremely competitive, with up to nine teams vying for the remaining two positions.

Newcastle and Manchester United, who are presently third and fourth, and Tottenham, who are currently in fifth place, are Betway’s favorites to advance.

Surprisingly, Brighton, Fulham, and Brentford are listed behind Liverpool and Chelsea in the table, followed by Aston Villa in 11th place, just one point behind.

The Blues and Reds have both had terrible seasons thus far and are currently 10 points outside the top four, but others think that their past success and experience still offers them a strong shot to make it.

Gallas, a former defender for Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham, disagrees and told Genting Casino that it would be extremely difficult for either club to make the Champions League this year.

This season, mid-table struggles include Liverpool and Chelsea.

‘OK, there are still seventeen games left to play but the teams that are in front of them will keep going because they know that this is a strange season where both Chelsea and Liverpool are not at their best. They will want to maintain the gap.

‘At the beginning of the season, I said that Liverpool wouldn’t make the top four and people attacked me for it! I’m still in my corner, fighting, because a lot of people keep messaging me about it!

‘I said that Chelsea would qualify for the Champions League, but after seeing what is happening at the club, and the way Chelsea approached the summer transfer window, my opinion started to change.

Can Newcastle break into the top four?

‘I looked at the way they were playing, the way the new signings were performing and thought to myself that there is no way they will make the Champions League.’

Making his top four predictions, Gallas added: ‘Arsenal definitely. City will be there along with United. I didn’t expect them at the beginning of the season, but Newcastle.

‘Newcastle are playing really well at the moment. When you watch Newcastle play, you can see a proper team unit. The players are completely committed; they defend together, they attack together.

‘They have shown this season how strong they can be. They drew at The Emirates – they are the surprise package in the race for the top four.

‘I would like to include Tottenham but it’s very difficult to make a prediction for them to finish in the top four because of the football they play.’
