Romeo Lavia recently shared his feelings of disappointment after experiencing a tough debut season with Chelsea due to injuries.

Despite joining the team for a hefty fee of £53 million in the summer, the 20-year-old midfielder has only managed to play for a mere 32 minutes. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to play for the rest of the season due to a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury.

Chelsea confirmed this news on Wednesday, and shortly after, Lavia took to social media to express his thoughts.

“I’ve tried really hard, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to play for the rest of the season,” he wrote.

“It’s been a frustrating season for me, not being able to support my teammates. I really love being part of this team, wearing the Chelsea badge, and playing on the field. I’ve been giving my best every day to get back out there.

“Thanks for all the love, support, and even the criticism. It all helps me stay positive and motivated. I’m looking forward to returning and sharing many special moments together. See you soon.”

Lavia faced challenges with match fitness after joining from Southampton last summer, and then he suffered an ankle injury. Although he returned to play against Crystal Palace in late December, he only managed to play for a short time before another injury, this time to his thigh, forced him back to the sidelines. This has been a common story for many players at Chelsea this season, causing issues for both the team and their manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
