Graham Potter says the newest Arsenal signing, Jorginho is a ‘top professional’

Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, said the transfer of Jorginho to Arsenal was a “win, win, win” situation for all parties.

After several failed attempts to acquire Moises Caicedo from Brighton during the January transfer window, Jorginho finally joined the Premier League leaders on deadline day in a £12 million deal from Chelsea.

Jorginho’s Chelsea contract was set to expire at the end of the current campaign, but Potter’s team was also strengthened on deadline day when the club acquired Enzo Fernandez in a move worth €121 million (£107 million) from Benfica.

The Italian international has played a key role for Chelsea under Potter and the Chelsea manager feels that Arsenal have acquired a “great professional.” The Italian has won the Champions League and Europa League while playing for Stamford Bridge.

At his news conference on Thursday, Potter responded to a question concerning Jorginho’s departure by saying: “First of all, for the four months I’ve worked with him, he’s been amazing, great person.”

‘I think when you look at his service to this club it’s been brilliant, what he’s achieved.

‘I think sometimes you look and have to make a decision as a football club with the contract situation he had, and the opportunity he had to secure something a little bit more for his family.

‘It was one of those situations which was a bit of a win, win, win.

‘From my perspective I wish him well, he’s a top professional and a top person.’
