Chelsea legend John Terry was honoured with the ‘Player Career Award’ at the 14th edition of the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Friday, adding to his impressive collection of individual trophies.

Terry retired from football in 2018 after a glorious career that saw him win multiple titles with Chelsea and England.

He dedicated his award to another Chelsea icon, Gianluca Vialli, who died a year ago.

He also shared his views on the current situation at Chelsea, saying that Manchester City are the team to beat in the Premier League. He said (via Absolute Chelsea), “I think it’s a matter of cycles. I remember 10, 15 years ago, Man United were the dominant force. Then Chelsea came along, we had our time. Now it’s Pep and Man City’s time.”

He added that Chelsea and their manager Pochettino need time to build a successful project. He told Globe Soccer Awards, “Chelsea are a bit behind [the top of the Premier League] right now. But they need patience, the manager needs patience, Poch is a fantastic manager, I’ve seen his work first-hand.”

Chelsea are currently 9th in the Premier League and have a challenging week ahead, starting with a cup game against Championship side Middlesbrough on Tuesday, where they need to overcome a one goal deficit at Stamford Bridge.
