Mauricio Pochettino’s Departure Shakes Up Manager Market

Mauricio Pochettino’s sudden exit from Chelsea has caught the attention of both Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

After leaving Chelsea by mutual consent due to differing views with the club’s owners, Pochettino is now available for immediate hire. This has put him on the radar of top clubs like United and Bayern.

The 52-year-old’s availability changes the landscape for many clubs looking for experienced yet relatively young managers. There aren’t many top-tier coaches available, and Pochettino is now a prime candidate for some of Europe’s biggest teams.

Pochettino made a significant impact at Chelsea, lifting them from 11th place in April to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League, losing just once in their final 15 matches. His impressive tactical strategies during this period have not gone unnoticed by United and Bayern.

Manchester United have been contemplating replacing Erik ten Hag, who has struggled with an eighth-place finish and a negative goal difference. Despite reaching the FA Cup final against Manchester City, many believe that even a win might not save his job. With new owners INEOS being long-time admirers of Pochettino, United could act quickly to bring him in.

Bayern Munich, looking for a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, have also shown interest in Pochettino. Tuchel, a former Chelsea manager himself, only managed to secure a third-place finish in the league. Although Bayern initially decided to part ways with Tuchel, they later tried to convince him to stay, which he declined. Now, Bayern are back to searching for a new manager, with Pochettino, Brentford’s Thomas Frank, and Burnley’s Vincent Kompany on their shortlist.

Even though Pochettino left Chelsea with some unresolved issues, his performance towards the end of the season has bolstered his reputation. Now, some of Europe’s top clubs are keenly interested in securing his services.
